  European Touring Costs

We have often been asked how much our trips to Europe cost so below I have added a breakdown of the various costs in GB pounds for each trip. 

Since we retired we have taken two month trips in May to July each year

The total holiday cost includes everyday food costs which we would spend at home anyway. We rarely eat out in restaurants etc but we occasionally treat ourselves to attractions such as cable cars, museums and boat trips. We also take maybe the equivalent of one weeks worth of food from the UK.

ACSI sites are those listed in their Camping card low season discount scheme which have given us considerable savings against normal site fees. We tend not to use electric hookups except where it is included in the site fee as at the ACSI sites. 

Some aires I have listed as free had a 1€/2€ charge for fresh water, grey water disposal and electric hookups which we rarely use. Others charge an all in fee which may include services or an extra fee for water etc. Over the years we have found fewer totally free aires. 

Installation of a 6Kg (11 litre) Gaslow refillable LPG cylinder has saved us a considerable cost, although the installation was around £200, but we consider it was worth it for the convenience. We carry a Camping Gaz 907 bottle as reserve but usually remember to refill the Gaslow bottle about every fifteen nights (in the summer).
